Frequently Asked Questions
What is CBD?
Cannabidiol, also known as CBD, is one of over 60+ naturally occurring cannabinoid compounds found in Cannabis, an annual herbaceous flowering plant. CBD oil is derived from an organic substance formed in the plant’s secretions. Both marijuana and hemp are forms of cannabis. However, cannabis does not mean marijuana. Cannabis is the genus name and general umbrella term under which all forms of marijuana and hemp fall. Unlike THC, CBD does not cause a “high.” Our CBD products are derived from hemp, not marijuana.
What is CBD used for?
People are finding that CBD may be useful for many conditions that have not responded well to conventional treatments. The most common uses include chronic pain, anxiety, insomnia, focus, PTSD, and epilepsy.
How does CBD work?
CBD interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system, which helps regulate balance, mood, sleep, pain, immune response, and stress. Unlike THC, CBD does not directly bind to CB1 or CB2 receptors, which is why it does not produce psychoactive effects.
What is the endocannabinoid system?
The endocannabinoid system consists of cannabinoid receptors, endocannabinoids, and enzymes. The most studied receptors are CB1 (mainly in the brain) and CB2 (mainly in the immune system).
What is your dosing guide?
This is not medical advice. We recommend consulting your doctor. A general guideline is 1 mg of CBD per 8.8 pounds of body weight.
What are the benefits of using CBD?
CBD may be non-psychoactive, reduce pain and inflammation, relieve muscle spasms, reduce anxiety, act as an antioxidant, and provide neuroprotective benefits.
Is CBD legal in my state?
Hemp-derived CBD containing only trace amounts of THC is legal in all 50 U.S. states and does not require a prescription.
What is the entourage effect?
The entourage effect refers to the synergistic interaction between cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids, which may work better together than in isolation.
Will CBD get me high?
No. CBD is non-psychoactive and does not produce the high associated with THC.
What is the best method of use?
Tinctures are a popular method and typically take 15–30 minutes to take effect. They can be taken directly or mixed into food or drinks.
Are there any potential side effects?
CBD is generally well tolerated. High doses may cause drowsiness or lethargy.
How does a cannabinoid work?
Cannabinoids typically interact with CB1 and CB2 receptors, but CBD can also interact with non-cannabinoid receptors.
What’s the difference between CBD and THC?
THC is psychoactive and causes a high, while CBD does not. They work together synergistically in what is known as the entourage effect.
How do I consume CBD oil?
CBD oil can be taken sublingually for faster absorption or mixed into food and drinks.
Will CBD help my condition?
Due to federal regulations, we cannot make medical claims. We encourage customers to research available information.
How do you know how much CBD is in your products?
Our products are lab tested internally and by third-party labs to ensure accuracy, safety, and purity.
What are terpenes?
Terpenes are aromatic compounds found in plants that provide flavor and aroma and work synergistically with cannabinoids.
Can I give my pet CBD?
Yes, pets may benefit from CBD, but doses should be smaller. Consult a veterinarian before use.
Can you overdose on CBD?
CBD will not cause a fatal overdose, though very high doses may cause drowsiness.
Are drug interactions possible?
Yes. CBD can interact with medications metabolized by CYP450 enzymes. Consult your doctor.
What are CBD edibles?
CBD edibles are food products infused with CBD, such as gummies, chocolates, or gum.
What is hemp extract?
Hemp extract is the raw extract from the hemp plant used to produce CBD products.
What is CBD isolate?
CBD isolate is pure CBD separated from other plant compounds and usually appears as a white crystalline powder.
What is a CBD tincture?
A CBD tincture is another term for CBD oil and is typically taken orally.
How long does it take for CBD to take effect?
Effects vary by method: inhalation (minutes), sublingual (15–60 minutes), oral ingestion (up to 90 minutes).
What kind of testing is performed?
All products are third-party lab tested, and results are available on product pages.
What is raw CBD oil?
Raw CBD oil is unfiltered and non-decarboxylated, containing CBDa.
Can I get CBD from juicing raw cannabis?
Yes, raw cannabis contains cannabinoid acids like CBDA and THCA, which may have benefits.
Is a CBD-dominant strain better than a 50/50 CBD-THC strain?
Different ratios work better for different conditions. CBD and THC work synergistically.
How is CBD metabolized when consumed orally?
CBD is metabolized by the liver into 7-hydroxy-CBD and does not convert into significant amounts of THC.
